Three years at Isla: growth, impact, and a little theatre

Hi, I’m Louise, Marketing Manager at Isla, and somehow it’s been over three years since I joined the team. From planning our first big events to helping rebrand the company and completing my CIM Level 6 diploma, it’s been a journey of learning, growth, and getting stuck into work that really matters.

Why did I join Isla?

Fresh out of uni, I knew I loved the pace of startups, especially ones that had a genuine mission. Isla offered both energy and impact. From the beginning, I’ve been trusted to lead projects, try new things, and shape how we show up as a brand. That kind of trust is rare and it’s what’s kept me so motivated.

What does my day-to-day look like?

A bit of everything, really. One day I might be designing a stand for a big event, the next I’m deep in a spreadsheet figuring out how to improve our lead gen. The variety keeps things interesting, and because we’re a small team, good ideas never get stuck in approval loops. You just run with them.

Proudest moments?

There’ve been lots. Planning events like Rewired and Confed from the ground up, creating campaigns that reflect what Isla is all about, and seeing it all come to life is incredibly rewarding. Studying for my CIM qualification while working full-time was a big challenge, but I felt so supported by the team. We’re really encouraged to keep learning here.

Outside of work, I’ve bought my first flat, adopted Finn (a very cute and energetic cocker spaniel), and performed in several amateur musical theatre shows in front of thousands. It’s been a whirlwind in the best way.

What’s surprised me most?

How fulfilling working in health tech is. When you hear from clinical teams how Isla helps them do their jobs better and support patients more effectively, it really hits home. I’ve had the chance to meet some amazing people in this space, and I’m constantly inspired by the work they do.

What have I learned?

Imposter syndrome is real, especially when you join a super intelligent, fast-paced team straight out of university. But belief goes a long way. Isla gave me the room to learn, grow, and find my feet. If you’re starting out and feeling unsure, hang in there. It gets better. You get better.

What’s next?

Right now, I’m deep into planning for our 2026 events and they’re going to be big. And longer term, I’m excited to keep growing with Isla. We’ve gone from early startup to powering over 200 clinical pathways and working with more than 30 NHS partners, and we’re still just getting started.

If you want to do meaningful work, grow quickly, and be part of a team that genuinely cares, we’re hiring a Senior Business Development Manager.
