Isla is now B Corp™ certified: a milestone in social responsibility and healthcare innovation
Today marks a significant milestone for Isla as we proudly announce our B Corp™ certification, joining a network of over 9,000 companies around the world that use business as a force for good.
B Corporations uphold high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability to stakeholders, and transparency in their practices. They prioritise these standards alongside financial success, considering the interests of employees, clients, communities, and the planet.
Through Isla’s innovative digital pathway platform, we aim to inspire and empower healthcare providers towards a remote model of care that is more efficient, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.

One of our core values at Isla is to reflect proudly on our achievements, which is the guiding light for everything we do. This accomplishment highlights our commitment to transforming the industry – not just for the healthcare providers and partners we work with, but also for the wider community and the NHS.
Here’s what our founders have to say about our B Corp certification:
“Becoming a B Corp is a significant milestone for Isla. It reflects our commitment to creating a fairer healthcare system. This process has highlighted areas for improvement and strengthened our dedication to transparency. We’re excited to deepen our partnership with the NHS, aligning our efforts to achieve a greener future. With Isla’s digital pathway platform, we can support the goal of a net-zero NHS. Our B Corp status motivates us to embrace new challenges, reinforcing that sustainable practices lead to better healthcare for all.”
– Pete Hansell, CEO & Co-founder
“We started Isla to make a positive impact in the world, and getting B Corp certified is yet another proof point for how holistically we approach that goal. It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and fairness, both within the company and in the impact we help our partners achieve through the digital pathway platform we are building to transform how healthcare is delivered.”
– James Jurkiewicz, CTO & Co-founder
Our journey to B Corp certification
B Corp Certification verifies that a company meets B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact. The rigorous certification process evaluates a business’s operations across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers.

A key element of the certification is a legally binding commitment, ensuring the leadership and shareholders consider the impact of their decisions on all aspects of the business – not just financial performance.
To achieve certification, companies must score 80 or above on the B Impact Assessment, which measures social and environmental performance. B Lab analysts review the submitted data, identifying areas for improvement or clarification. Once a company reaches the required score, it is awarded B Corp certification.
Isla’s certification by B Lab, along with our score of 90, demonstrates our commitment to balancing profit with purpose, ensuring positive impacts on our employees, healthcare partners, communities, and the environment.

Delivering next-level healthcare for a better future
Working closely with our NHS partners, Isla has empowered over 35 NHS Trusts to streamline patient care and reduce negative environmental impacts.
As we look to the future, we are ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. Becoming a B Corp is not a destination, it’s an ongoing journey. While we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, this is only the beginning.
In the coming year, we will strengthen our commitment to transparency, accountability, and social impact by evaluating every aspect of Isla through the lens of innovation and impact. To demonstrate our progress, we will regularly update the Isla website with details of our commitments and achievements.
Achieving carbon neutrality
We are dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality by investing in renewable energy and carbon offset initiatives, aligning with the NHS’s ambition to become the world’s first net-zero health system. To date, we’ve helped our partners save thousands of tonnes of CO2 by supporting the move away from paper-based processes to a collaborative digital ecosystem, and an effective remote care model that avoids unnecessary travel.
Driving meaningful social impact
Our digital pathway platform will continue to empower healthcare providers, raise awareness, and drive positive change, with a focus on building a healthcare system that serves everyone – especially vulnerable populations.
Building sustainable partnerships
B Corp certification opens the door to collaboration with other mission-driven companies. We’ll work with like-minded partners, including the NHS, to foster growth that prioritises people, data responsibility, and ethical business practices.
Fostering continuous improvement
B Corp certification is an ongoing commitment. We will regularly assess our impact, set measurable goals to enhance our social and environmental contributions and maintain our focus on transparency and innovation.
